Aljazeera reporter detained by Egyptian authorities for allegedly broadcasting false news against state institutions

An Aljazeera journalist Mahmoud Hussein, who is an Egyptian national has been detained by the high authorities of Egypt and subjected to intensive investigation. His arrest was made on December 20, after he arrived in Egypt for a holiday. 
Charges placed against him by the Egyptian interior ministry includes "incitement against state institutions and broadcasting false news with the aim of spreading chaos".
Al Jazeera on the other hand has debunked the accusations placed against their reporter and has thus urged the authorities to release him with immediate effect.
His initial detention was to expire on January 4 and 19, however the authorities extended his arrest for another 15 working days., for further investigations. His case was further extended to Giza Criminal Court  on February 2.
The court on Saturday extended his detention period once again, thus he will be in the grips of the authorities until March 15. This makes it the fourth time his detention has been extended. 
Hussien, according to his defense team, is being "mistreated" and has been "kept in an individual cell".
