UAE setting high benchmark in space industry

The nation is without a doubt setting a high benchmark when it comes to envisioning the future ahead in science and technology.
The UAE Capital is set to hold the very first Global Space Congress from the January 31-February 1. Around 600 global space industry experts, world leaders and ministers will join together to promote the phenomenal world outside our own.
With the ongoing interest in aerospace and space exploration, including the initiatives set out by the UAE Space Agency, as well as the Emirates Mars Mission - which is set to REACH Mars in 2021 - the nation is without a doubt setting a high benchmark when it comes to envisioning the future ahead in science and technology, especially in space exploration.
Dr Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, told Khaleej Times that the congress in Abu Dhabi would certainly be a historic one. "First and foremost, the Global Space Congress is the first of its kind and largest ever to have been held in the region."
"By bringing together leading international space agencies and hundreds of industry leaders, the Congress will encourage increased cooperation and collaboration internationally, as well as bolstering the UAE's standing in the global space community," added the director general.


During the congress, policies will be defined, as well as the development of strategies and future plans of the space industry. New applications and technology for the space industry will also be revealed. Moreover, initiatives will be discussed regarding the overall development and impact of the space sector in the region and worldwide.
The leaders and experts that will take part include the Heads of Space Agencies, C-Level executives from leading space and aerospace entities, as well as researchers, scientists and academics.


The Congress enables collaborative development and the implementation of core space and satellite technology strategies, bringing global and regional economic benefits.
The UAE visions of new technology applications and space exploration will also be an immense focus during the event, as well as earth observation and planetary science symposium, with discussions by Adnan Al Rais, Deputy Project Manager of the Emirates Mars Mission, Mohammed bin Rashid Centre.

The UAE officials that will participate, include, Dr Khalifa Al Romaithi, Chairman, UAE Space Agency; Dr Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Director General, UAE Space Agency; Shaikha Al Maskari, Chief Innovation Officer, UAE Space Agency and Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre.
Global experts who will discuss various topics, including, the collaboration of space exploration projects, as well as space laws and regulations, include, Prince Dr Turki Bin Saud Bin Mohammed Al Saud, President, King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology; Dr Yanghee Choi, Minister of Science, Korea; Roberto Battiston, President of the Italian Space Agency and Alice Bunn, Director of Policy, UK Space Agency.

Project Space forum concludes
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) concluded the first edition of the "Project Space" event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, chairman of MBRSC and general supervisor of all projects of the Centre and its strategic and development plans.
Day two of the event included a number of sessions and panel discussions, covering some of the most remarkable space discoveries and technological accomplishments, in addition to outlining the goals of the Emirates Mars Mission - Hope mission and the achievements of women in the space sector.
